This course is designed for anyone who has subject knowledge, experience or a qualification in a subject area and they wish to teach and assess others in this subject or knowledge. It is the minimum entry level award to teach in the FE sector for example at a College or teach in subjects such as first aid.

Entry level requirements are a letter of application stating why the candidate wishes to undertake the course, signed by the candidate with a statement that this is their own work. A full up to date CV. Copies of any relevant training certificates already held.

Course duration is 5 days either as a block or spread over a number of weeks, one day per week over 5 being typical. These sessions cover theory and practice based around the teaching and assessing cycle and will include a micro teach and review of this by peers and the course tutor. Four written assignments are also required.

Outcome is the Level 3 award in education and training.

One and two day information, awareness courses are also available based on the full award for anyone who wishes to understand more about the teaching learning and assessing process for their own benefit, to improve interpersonal communication, to understand how they learn as an individual, and anyone who is teaching small groups informally.
