First Aid at Work. (FAW)

First Aid at Work is designed to enable employers and organisations to meet their Health and Safety obligations, for the provision of first aid to employees.

This duty of care can be extended to members of the public who are on the employers premises.

The course is currently 3 days (minimum of 18 contact hours not including breaks), it is renewed by attending the same course run over less time, typically 2 days (12 contact hours).

Expiring certificates MUST be produced when booking to renew the first aider at work status, before the course.

The renewal must be completed within 3 years of the previous course. If a certificate has expired then first aiders have a 28 day period of grace to renew a regulated award and should not act as a first aider during this period. Please note a duty of care may still exist for employees so other arrangements may need to be made for first aid cover.

Appointed Persons training is not a First Aid at Work qualification/award, and the training is not required if the risk/hazard at work is this low such as to use Appointed Persons.
